Collect for Conference
We will be collecting various items at Conference again this year, so we’re giving you plenty of time to start collecting!
Those of you who were at the D1260 2022 Conference know you were asked to bring certain things to help various charities. Well, we’d like you to do this again for 2023, and would ask that you start collecting now.
There will be an area in the Showcase on Saturday where you can leave your donations.
Ring Pulls
We will be hearing from the Purple Community Fund who take old Ring Pulls and make them into bags, jewellery and other household items. So put a jar to one side and start collecting some Ring Pulls.
Glasses
We are also looking for old spectacles! Search in the back of your cupboards and drawers for any old spectacles that you do not use. We are working with our local Lions club, who will be passing the glasses onto Chichester Lions, who are the project lead. On receipt and glasses are checked and graded before being sent around the world.
Foreign Money
We are also looking for delegates and their clubs to support with the collection of foreign currency. All proceeds from this collection will go to the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Appeal and End Polio Now.
Stamps
Many charities still collect stamps, Stamps are sold by weight and can raise £20 per kilogram for a charity. Just make sure you leave a centimeter of envelope or packaging around each stamp; that’s just a recommendation and stamps that have been trimmed less or more are still accepted. We are collecting stamps for the Stoma Society and RNIB.
Coats
Lastly, we haven’t forgotten the Wrap Up project, we will be collecting coats again, but due to the logistics of moving them around we will let you know where you can take your coats at the appropriate time.
